About the challenge

In 2004 Amusement park Toverland organised a 24-hour Coaster Challenge on the BoosterBike roller coaster. Jo Pools has been one of the few participants to complete this Challenge. Since then it has been a long time that a similar challenge has taken place. In addition Amusement park Toverland has the wooden roller coaster Troy since 2008. Jo therefore figured it was time for a new Coaster Challenge and this time on Troy.

Jo trusted his idea to the paper and prepared a proposal. He
presented it Oscar Abbenhuis of the European Coaster Club. They quickly agreed that this could be the beginning of a great event.

Together they presented the proposal to the director and marketing manager of Amusement park Toverland. They both were impressed by Jo's proposal and gave the green light to organise the event as European Coaster Club in collaboration with Amusement park Toverland.

Five internation fan clubs have been invited to each delegate 2 participant and 1 one reserve for this Challenge. In the end there are 12 fans who take on the Challenge of riding Troy for 24 hours. The remaining seats on the train are auctioned of for a good cause, the dutch Make a wish foundation (Doe een Wens stichting).

The challengers and the reserves have been tested on satuday july 17th 2010 in Amusement park Toverland during a 2 hour test on Troy. Unfortunately two participants had to pull out. It therefore shows that is quite the challenge to ride Troy for 24 hours.
