Auction participation rules Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge

 

Declaration accepting own risk

Terms and conditions for participation in the Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge organized by the European Coaster Club (ECC) in collaboration with amusement park Toverland. These conditions apply to each auction participant in the Troy Coaster Challenge.

 

1. Concept definition

1.1 Organization

The Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge is organized by the ECC in collaboration with amusement park Toverland, hereinafter: the organization.

 

1.2 Auction participant

A person (m/f) who obtained a seat through the auction at www.troychallenge.com for a certain time block in Troy during the Challenge.

 

The auction participant:

  • meets the height requirement of 1.20 meters set for the roller coaster Troy;

  • has a good physical condition;

  • is medically fit to ride the roller coaster Troy for the a maximum of 4 hours. One can think of:

  • not suitable for pregnant women;

  • not suitable for people with cardiovascular disease, pacemaker or high blood pressure;

  • not suitable for people with a bad back or neck problems.

 

1.3 Challenge

The Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge is the event organized by the organization. In the weekend of september 11th and 12th 2010 the ECC in collaboration with Toverland organize the Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge in amusement park Toverland te Sevenum in the Netherlands. During this Challenge 12 roller coaster enthusiasts from different international fan groups will ride the wooden roller coaster Troy for 24-hours. They will be accompanied by people who have obtained their seat on Troy through the auction at www.troychallenge.com. The proceeds from the auction go to the dutch Make a wish foundation, Doe een Wens.

 

1.4 Misconduct

For the organization this means conduct that is a burden to the organization, other participants, bystanders, area managers or owners, supervisors, police and/or residents, and not following directions of the organization. It is forbidden to show misconduct. If it is noted, the obtained seat in Troy during the Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge can be denied without restitution of the paid bid.

 

2. Damage, risk and misconduct

2.1 Damage

The auction participant is always responsible for all damage caused by the auction participant to the organization and damage to third parties. Also the auction participant is always responsible for damage caused to the area or if present growth or furniture.

 

2.2 Participation at own risk

The organization will make every effort to ensure the safety of the auction participants, still participation in this Challenge happens at own risk. The auction participant declares, by signing this statement, to not hold the organization accountable in case of damage in whatever form or by whatever cause. Participation in the Challenge can only happen when this statement is signed prior to the challenge by the participant.

 

2.3 Exclusion from participation by misconduct

Misconduct or not following directions of the organization can lead to the participant being excluded from further participation in the Challenge, at the discretion of the organization.

 

3. Rules Challenge

3.1 Participation

Auction participants are only allowed to bid for a maximum of 2 hours in ride time, and for maximum of 4 hours in total during the entire Challenge. A seat obtained through the auction is required to be on the official name of the person and is personal. The total amount of the placed bids on the seats must be paid prior to the Challenge. If these rules are violated, the organisation is authorized to deny auction participants their seat without restitution of the money paid.

 

3.2 Start Challenge

Auction participants must be present in amusement park Toverland in Sevenum 30 minutes prior to the start of their bought time block in Troy. If the auction participant is late for the time block, this time is not later repeated.

 

3.3 Shirts

All auction participants receive a Troy Challenge shirt. It is required to wear this t-shirt during the bought hours in order to be recognizable to the organization. It is not allowed to exchange the t-shirt with someone else prior, during or after the challenge.

 

3.4 Night time opening

Auction participants are allowed to be in the park during the Challenge. A seat bought in the auction therefore also means entrance to the park. If they bring any guests, they need to be in the park before 23.00h, and pay after 18.00h a reduced entrance price of 10 euro. Besides Troy only the swinging ship Scorpios will be opened. The moment that they would like go home, they need to present themselves at one of Toverlands employees, they will take the guests to the exit and will open the doors. Keep in mind though that once guests have left it is no longer possible to visit the park at night.

 

3.5 Guidance and safety

Every auction participant must be aware of the house-rules of Toverland (www.toverland.nl) and agrees with the attraction rules, as stated on the signs at each attraction. Toverland provides professional guidance during the entire event.

 

3.6 Alcohol and stimulants

It is the auction participants of the Challenge not allowed to use alcohol before or during the Challenge for the sake of their own safety and for the safety of others. Furthermore it is not allowed to use drugs or any other stimulant for that matter. If it is noted, the obtained seat in Troy during the Troy 24-hour Coaster Challenge can be denied without restitution of the money paid.

 

3.7 Breaks

There is regular (mandatory) breaks for the participants in order to stretch the legs. Every hour a break of 5 minutes takes place, and for each 6 hours there is a break of 30 minutes.

 

3.8 Photo, film and sound recordings

The auction participant gives permission for image and/or sound recordings. The image and/or sound material can be used for commercial purposes. The organization is authorized to use the image and/or sound material without limits for an unlimited period of time.

 

3.9 Unforeseen circumstances

The organization reserves the right at any time to get (auction) participants from the roller coaster and to end the Challenge when the situation (physical, weather, etc.) calls for it. If there is a failure, the Challenge shall be (temporarely) discontinued, and only continue when the failure has been solved. The time lost due to the temporal discontinuation of the Challenge shall be made by adding extra time to the Challenge. There will be ridden beyond 12h00. If there is a long fault, the Challenge unfortunately cannot continue. It is at the discretion of the Head of Technical Services in consultation with the Park Manager Toverland if Troy can remain open when there is bad weather.
